John French
I am so proud of my Dad for what he did for his country in WWII and for keeping his counsel ever after. Despite having a protected job in the Air Ministry at the outbreak of war, he fought the Civil Service powers to release him to join the RAF. He trained to become a bomber pilot and served throughout the war, over Europe, the Middle East and in Coastal Command. Like all serving in Bomber Command, he must have gone through hell, but until his dying day at the age of 79 he never spoke about it
